Quilt Aid 2009

Blueberries is very excited to be a part of this wonderful program for 2009!

What is Quilt Aid 2009?
It is a program where you can make a quilt and support a charity at the same time.

How does it work?
12 designers each designed a block, then each designer joined with a shop who exclusively sells their block, each shop also sells their version of a finishing kit. Blueberries is donating profits from the sale of the “Bluebird of Hope - Tree of Hope” block by Janelle Wind and the Blueberries “Bluebird of Hope” finishing kit to the nominated charity.

Who is the Charity?
The charity is World Vision - Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital. Three million women in Ethiopia become pregnant each year, of this 0.3% will develop obstretic fistulae. This represents approximately nine thousand new cases each year. The overall goal of the hospital is to provide services for those suffering from childbirth and related injuries, rehabilitating them to the point where they can be integrated back into their society with dignity and a sense of self worth. To read in full click here.

How do I get started?
You will need to purchase the 12 individual blocks from the 12 different shops, then choose a finishing kit.

The patterns and kits will be available whilst fabric stocks last. This will particularly limit the number of finishing kits available so purchase early so you don’t miss out on your favourite kit. You can purchase all 12 block kits and your finishing kit on the same day if you like, or spread them out over a few months. Maximum program time will be 12 months but as this is the inaugural year it is not known how popular it will be and kits may sell out in one month or less.

To purchase each block you will need to visit each shop online or if you live nearby in person. There are Block of the Month options available, to find out more about this and full details of the Quilt Aid 2009 program visit their website by clicking here.

Alternatively contact Blueberries on 02 4355 4400 or email enquiries@blueberries.net.au

Collect all 12 blocks and a finishing kit for a chance to win a prize pack worth over $300.
